Gispen takes over Richard Hutten Collection
16-10-2008
On October 16, 2008 the takeover agreement between Gispen Lensvelt Group BV and Richard Hutten Collection was signed by Richard Hutten and Peter Veer, CEO of Gispen Lensvelt Group BV.
The Richard Hutten Collection will become an essential part of the new product label NgispeN: a new Gispen design collection especially targeting the domestic market.
Richard Hutten will become the most important designer for NgispeN and Gispen. Hutten, internationally probably regarded as the most famous Dutch designer and undoubtedly one of the least conventional, will also be acting as creative Director for the new NgispeN label.
“The emphasis is back on design at Gispen”, says Hutten, recently nominated for the ‘Lensvelt de Architect Interieurprijs’ (a prestigious interior design award) for his design for the MGH2O-shop in Rotterdam.
Hutten: “We will create a special look for this collection under the leading theme of Playing with Tradition”.
The collection of NgispeN contains, among others, existing and new Hutten products like Sexy Relaxy, Rhino, Bronto, Zzzidt, de Berlage Stool en Chair and the No Sign of Design (NSOD) Chair. The collection further boasts design icons like Gerrit Rietveld’s Mondial chair and Wim Rietveld’s 663 cabinet, W.H. Gispen’s famous lounge chair 412 as well as the 101 and 201 chairs. But also Histograms by Fabio Novembre and Slats by Bertjan Pot are eye catchers.
New products will be added regularly and are already in the pipeline.
The collection NgispeN will be launched at the Biënnale in Kortrijk in October 2008.
