Supplier of 200 Happy Sheep

On May 1 2010 Happy street, the Dutch Pavilion at the Expo 2010 in Shanghai, opened its doors for the public.

Happy Street is one of the most striking pavilions at the world exhibition in Shanghai. The design by John Körmeling is different from all other pavilions both by design and colorization. It was built in the shape of a figure of eight, a lucky number in China. Visitors walk past small houses that give an overview of highlights from Dutch architecture.

Among others there’s a replica of a typical “Zaans huisje” (17th century rural community), the “Van Nelle factory” (which is on the Unesco list of buildings with great cultural and architectural value) and the houses designed by Gerrit Rietveld. The pavilion was designed to show innovative ways to use space, energy and water.

GispenLensveltGroup BV sponsors the Dutch Pavilion “Happy Street”. The sponsorship consists of furnishing the VIP room (“the Crown”) with Than Chairs from the NgispeN collection (by Richard Hutten), Foldable Desks from the Lensvelt collection (by Paolo Rizzato) and several products from Moooi.

On the enormous meadow, made of artificial grass, 200 life size polyester sheep are placed. These Happy Sheep are made by Antriol, the Chinese production facility of GispenLensveltGroup. The design is by ZUS [ZONES URBAINES SENSIBLES].

The Happy Sheep are a huge success. Visitors use them frequently to rest in the shadow or eat their lunch. The Happy Sheep will be a part of the sales collections of Gispen and Lensvelt and will be on the market as from July 1, 2010.
