NOMI Wood is part of the NOMI chair collection, designed by Just Meijer for Gispen. All NOMI chairs carry the same universal shell, a specially designed bucket seat with a high level of comfort and made from 45% recycled plastic. The different frames are suitable for different activities.
Nomi Wood distinguishes itself by its welcoming appearance, where plastic, wood and steel come together to form a single package. The wooden legs give the chair an authentic look which makes it well suited for the care sector and hotel and catering industry.
The standard shell of NOMI already consists of 45% recycled plastic. This flamed variant, however, consists of no less than 100% recycled plastic.
By not gluing the cover onto the seat, NOMI is easily transformed from a plastic chair into an upholstered chair.
The cover comes in a variety of fabrics. The inside is lined with a thin layer of foam for a more comfortable seat and backrest.
The cover can be ordered separately.
The seat and backrest of NOMI are identical for all the models within the NOMI chair collection. This also holds true for the cover, which is interchangeable between the different models. The universal armrests can be added or removed at any given time.
The chair legs of NOMI Wood are either made from beech or oak and the frame comes in a variety of colours, which match the colours of the shell. This chair is equipped with floor sliders, with felt for hard floors and plastic for carpet.
Gispen believes firmly in its circular model, which is why we already took account of returns and reuse of components and materials when we designed Nomi. Gispen stands for high-quality products and takes responsiblity for their entire lifespan, while reducing waste production for as far as possible. When a product is at the end of its lifecycle, we give it a new function or refurbish it into a product that is as good as new.
The shell of the Nomi chair is made through ‘co-injection’ technology and is unique in its structure and compound: it consists of 45% recycled materials, the remainder of a new thermo-plastic polymer. This makes Nomi highly UV resistant, but also allows for easy cleaning.
Make Nomi even more sustainable and opt for a durable fabric. We work with many fabric suppliers, of which some use hemp-based or recycled plastic materials.
of the shell is made from a special plastic (Restylon P) and consists of 45% recycled materials
With a circularity percentage of 68%, NOMI is valued at 3 stars on our circular design framework.
