Gispen wins Lean & Green Star & Personal Mobility Award

Gispen has been awarded the Lean and Green Logistic Star. Thanks to a number of smart changes in our distribution chain, we have achieved a 22 percent reduction in CO2 emissions in five years. This makes Gispen one of the first organisations in the industry to win this important award. Gispen has also won the Lean and Green Personal Mobility Award.  

Achieving the Lean and Green Logistic Star is the next step after being awarded the Lean and Green Logistic Award five years ago. These Award winners promise to demonstrably reduce their CO2 emissions in the field of logistics by at least twenty percent over a period of five years.

Reductions

In the action plan that Gispen developed at the time, the entire own distribution chain, up to and including the final assembly of furniture at the customer's premises, was examined. The number of arrival moments was significantly reduced. For example, routes were scheduled smarter and the number of trucks and service buses was reduced. At the same time, transport was organised more tailor-made, for example by using smaller trucks. The number of trips could also be reduced thanks to further training of logistics employees. They became more widely deployable and had to rely less on specialized colleagues. In addition, the trucks of the house carrier were equipped with cleaner engine technology. In addition, Gispen was able to carry out the assembly process on location or so-called pop-up factories near the location.
