Interieurs that move with you

'In my view, sustainable design is a multi-layered process. Gispen creates environments where employees can work well and stay healthy. These designs are built to last because they adapt as needs or work activities change. Behind our interiors lie countless sustainable choices. But sustainability also means creating an environment that people want to keep. Because it makes them happy, allows them to work so efficiently, and creates beautiful memories. That’s what you ultimately want to achieve: an interior that’s not only functionally optimal, but one that people also feel a connection to.'

Long-term Relationship

'Feeling a long-term relationship with furniture is at odds with the old throwaway culture of buying, using and throwing away new. When employees appreciate a working environment , it gains added extra value and they want to enjoy it for as long as possible. Think of that nice team room where you've worked on so many great projects with your colleagues. Or the brainstorming room where the best creative ideas were born. The same applies to healthcare and educational environments. The soothing family room in the hospital where visitors await exciting news stays with you.'

Meaningful products

'A conecction can also develop at the product level. Think of the cozy wooden communal table where you always have lunch with your colleagues . Or the perfectly adjusted office chair that works so well and provides great support. A chair, table or cabinet is then no longer an object , but a meaningful element in the space. Something that supports functionally, but also touches emotionally. Furniture feels good, for example, because it has a familiar origin, or because you fall in love with the design. Products often resonate when people can identify with them; furniture then fits who you are or what you aspire to be as an organization. This encourages sustainable use. Because you take good care of the things you’re attached to. And you’d rather have them repaired than replaced. You might recognize this from home; it also applies to the furniture at work where you spend so much time.'

Many lives to go

'Meaningful products ultimately become part of the collective story within a team or organisation. And a working environment that fits perfectly becomes a carrier of identity, culture and engaged employees. Together with our clients and their employees, we look for their story and identity. We design timeless interiors that move with you. We offer a wide range of Gispen Revived furniture, which has already had several lives and has many more lives ahead of it. I am proud of how Gispen creates sustainable design that only gets more beautiful with age. Not only because it lasts a long time, but because it feels like your own and becomes part of your best memories.'
