C2C certification: more than a label

Cradle to Cradle is an important pillar in our business operations. And it's much more than just a certification. It is a philosophy with which we create products that contribute to a circular economy. Healthy, reusable and made with respect for the earth.  

To get a C2C certification, an independent accredited body – working with the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute – assesses a product. They inspect on the basis of the 5 core pillars of Cradle to Cradle. Companies must also meet certain health and environmental standards, such as a low CO2 impact per product life cycle. 

The 5 pillars of Cradle to Cradle*

  • Circular design: every product is designed for a second life
  • Healthy materials: free of harmful substances such as PVC and PFAS
  • Climate-friendly production: energy-efficient and with minimal CO2 emissions
  • Respect for ecosystems: no damage to water and soil during production 
  • Social responsibility: production under fair working conditions

Our gold and silver classificaties

Gispen scores silver and gold on many Cradle to Cradle pillars. Something we are proud of. Indeed, this certification program is one of the most ambitious in the sector. The A2020, Ahrend Balance and Gispen TMNL product lines all achieved the coveted label. We expect the Ahrend Remode certificate in 2025.
