Timeless design

The Gispen Classics collection consists of chairs, armchairs, sofas, tables and accessories. Designs reduced to their essence: clear forms, without unnecessary elements. Functional, comfortable and timeless, with attention to detail.

The iconic tubular steel frame forms the basis. Strong, recognisable and designed for intensive use: from workplace to waiting area, from education to hospitality.

Design with a history

As early as 1916, Willem Hendrik Gispen laid the foundations for a design vision that remains relevant today. His tubular steel furniture became an icon of Dutch design.

With Gispen Classics, we translate that heritage into the present. With respect for the original and with an eye for how people use spaces today.

Limited edition: A unique interplay of colour and material

Within the collection, a limited edition fabric has been developed in which shape, color and material reinforce each other. For this we worked closely with Enschede Textielstad and Raw Color.

The starting point was a Gispen chair from the 30s with a fabric with a floral pattern. Enschede Textielstad translated this into a repeating pixel pattern. Raw Color then developed a color palette of four frame and fabric combinations that respond to environment, light and combination. Enschede Textielstad wove the textiles in which colour and structure reinforce each other.

This is how the limited edition fabric Repeat was created. Made from recycled wool and made to order produced in the Netherlands, with minimal impact and without overproduction.
